Currently in Arkansas and I’ve finally got some time to talk.

The second morning we woke up to snow. Bummer.

West Virginia was a terrifying experience weather wise. Heres why:

Eventually it cleared up and we got some sun.

We were heading to Tennessee to visit Amanda Martin, racecar driver and runner of FemaleRacingNews.com. Check it out. We sat down with her and got to know her, her plans for the site and her own future ambitions. All awesome. We got some great footage of it all as well as me running away from moths. For those of you who don’t know, I have a tremendous fear of moths. The kind of fear that has me surrendering my bedroom to a moth if one happens to make its way in there.

Later on that night we were set to get a hotel in Nashville. We got into the city at about 2 in the morning- Rough after a day of a lot of nasty weather driving. When I went to check us in the hotel said my reservation never existed, so we called the reservation hotline and they said it DID exist, but the hotel screwed up and overbooked so regardless I had no room AND my card was getting charged ( I have to call back on Monday, tomorrow, to settle all of that bolony). The man on the phone was “attempting” to help out, for example: He called another hotel to book it so I could collect the points, but no one was answering so he said “here, I’ll give you the number, you call and see if you get through and if not, then to call him back and well do the same thing for another hotel”. Now two things are wrong with this – #1 if he didn’t get through, then what makes him think I’ll have any luck and #2 if I called and booked it, I didn’t get the points and screwing me even more, plus I wasn’t about to play a game of phone tag with them when it was NOW 3 in the morning after being on hold in the lobby. Needless to say we didn’t stay there, I told the guy thanks, and I’d handle it better on my own and to just give me the number to call so I can make sure I don’t get charged for a room I never stayed in.

Little did we know that the Country Music awards were going on. Basically if there was one event that would make that city packed beyond reason, that was it, and of course we just happen to be staying in Nashville that one night. An example of my life’s irony.

So we popped back on to the interstate, pulled into another chain hotel and was greeted by an angel of a hotel clerk. I told him my story, because it read all over my face that I was livid, and he threw in the AAA discount. Wonderful guy, and if you ever read this, THANK YOU.

We woke up the next day (3rd) and headed out to visit Leanna Johnson who owns a powder coating company called Phoenix Specialty Coatings. Talented, great sense of humor ( as gingers always are known to have, and yup she’s a ginger too!) radical ‘cuda named Slimer. Check out her site at PhoenixSpecialtyCoatings.com. She was the first woman I found and emailed about my project and she was the first to get back to me and be on board! Meeting her was a just a cherry topper- super awesome. Check out what she posted and some of the pictures of our meeting HERE

On the way to Leanna we came across an abandoned chevy dealership that broke my heart. America, we need to get our cars back on the competition map.

After that we rolled into Memphis for some tasty BBQ. I got some pulled chicken. The sauce was outrageous, and served heated which was really interesting. And they gave you a cup :)

And there was this wild pig muriel on the wall. Not sure what’s going on but the guy playing piano looks like Ray Charles, with a Bill Clinton hair-do.

Then we drove a little bit more, crossed the Mississippi River and are now in North Little Rock, AR.

Tomorrow- Louisiana – Keep Posted.

So this past Wednesday I decided to wash and wax Ned for obvious reasons- Wanting him to look like his glorious self for the trip. We’ll it is now night time on the first night of Day 1 and Ned looks like he was beaten with chalk erasers. Filth everywhere. Not good.

Here’s an overview to hold you over till the footage gets up

We left around 7 from Long Island, picked up our second camera man, Matt Brown, who’s been a tremendous help to the crew, and headed out to the AACA Museum in Hershey, PA. This is what the drive looked like at the beginning:

and towards the end:

We got to the Museum around 1pm. They were spectacular. When I walked in they already knew who I was, were interested and enthusiastic about the project, which always warms my heart, and THEN we were given a tour of the entire museum by the Curator himself, Jeff Bliemeister and the Director of Marketing & Public Relations for the museum, Nancy Gates. Hospitality, quality, cars, all TOP KNOTCH! If you are ever near Hershey PA, take the time to visit there. It is a solid museum with a lot of heart. If you don’t believe me, watch the footage when we post it, and you’ll see for yourself.

Ned has been drinking gasoline like a sailor curses. Still love him, and my hopes and mood remain sky high.

My Mom, the genuine lady that she is, packed us with the greatest snacks & sandwiches which were lifesavers along the road. My Dad, the gentleman hero, has helped me every step of the way with Ned, and my knowledge and understanding of Ned would not be where it is today with out all his help. Together we’ve made Ned ready for this extraordinary journey. My sisters deal with me, and still support all that I’m doing and still love me. Big stuff for my antics to be a pain, which I pride myself in daily. One even made this with the help of Mom and Dad the trip:

So all in all, unexpected adventures are happening which are turning out great. Keep posted :)
For now I need some sleep. I’m running on 2 hours, and am going to be driving for another 10 tomorrow.

Get pumped.
